IAC Acoustics (UNSW – Kensington, New South Wales, Australia)
IAC Acoustics required seismic analysis of an anechoic chamber to be located at University of New South Wales. Strength assessment and design verification of the anechoic chamber members and connections was required in accordance with standard AS 4100 considering site specific earthquake loads.
What we did:
- Performed structural FEA of anechoic chamber considering permanent and seismic loads and incorporating roof, wall and floor panels, inlet/outlet silencer non-structural masses, internal frame support cables and proposed anti-vibration mounts.
- Determined component peak stresses and panel joint screw capacity requirements. i.e. screw spacing
- Confirmed design compliance with standard AS 4100 requirements.
Outcome:
Avesta Consulting determined design compliance of the anechoic chamber under seismic (earthquake) loads and confirmed appropriate screw configurations (i.e. screw spacings) for roof, wall and floor panel joints based on screw design capacities.
