Refrigeration Engineering International (Sonker Basin 3 Liquid Bulk Terminal Project – Ain Sokhna Port, Egypt)
Refrigeration Engineering International required structural assessment and foundation design of a pipe rack, refrigeration skids and off-skid pipe supports for the Sonker Basin 3 Liquid Bulk Terminal project. Avesta Consulting completed a structural assessment of the pipe rack and skid frames in accordance with standard EN 1993-1-1 to verify structural integrity, member sizing/selection and connection details. We also provided foundation designs and construction drawings in accordance with standard EN 1992-1-1 considering supplied geotechnical data.
What we did:
- Performed structural FEA of pipe rack and BOG compressor and refrigeration skid frames to confirm structural member sizing and selection and connection details.
- Performed structural FEA of off-skid pipe supports to confirm design compliance.
- Provided foundation design for pipe rack and skid frames and off-skid pipe supports to determine footing and plinth design requirements.
- Provided foundation designs for additional equipment (i.e. BOG condenser and cooler, BOG liquid receiver, refrigeration condenser, refrigeration oil cooler, refrigeration liquid receiver, sub-cooler, economiser).
Outcome:
Avesta Consulting successfully incorporated pipe stress analysis results into the structural FE models, minimise member sizing and selection and connection detail requirements to provide optimised structural designs and delivered foundation designs that accommodated additional client piping and cabling requirements.
