Galiakotwala Engineering (Siberia, Russia)
Galiakotwala Engineering required stress analysis and design modification of pipelines for a sulfuric acid plant in Siberia. Structural assessment of the DN 800 pipelines was required considering permanent, imposed and thermal loads in accordance with standards ASME B31.3, EN 1993-1-1 and EN 1993-1-8 to determine suitable pipe supports and expansion bellows that minimise nozzle forces and moments at the tower and tank connection points.
What we did:
- Performed structural assessment of tower pipelines considering permanent, internal (hydrostatic) pressure and thermal loads.
- Determined stresses in pipe components and confirmed suitable pipe support and expansion bellows configurations (to minimise nozzle forces and moments).
- Verified design compliance with standards ASME B31.3, EN 1993-1-1 and EN 1993-1-8.
Outcome:
Avesta Consulting determined appropriate pipe support and expansion bellows configurations that minimise pipeline stresses (considering extreme ambient temperature conditions) and maintain nozzle moments and forces within design requirements.
