Nebo Project Engineers (South32 Illawarra Coal – New South Wales, Australia)
Nebo Project Engineers required design and structural assessment of an underground bore water collection tank for Avon 13 Pump Station. Design of the water collection tank shell, nozzles and supports was required in accordance with standards AS 1210 and AS 4100 considering permanent, imposed (hydrostatic pressure and full vacuum), seismic and lifting loads.
What we did:
- Performed preliminary design and structural FEA of water collection tank in accordance with standards AS 1210 and AS 4100.
- Performed linear buckling FEA to confirm adequate minimum buckling safety factor.
- Perform bolted connection and lifting point capacity calculations for vertical and horizontal lifting.
Outcome:
Avesta Consulting verified the design and structural integrity of the water collection tank in accordance with standards AS 1210 and AS 4100 considering appropriate corrosion allowances and maximum internal (hydrostatic) pressure conditions.
