IAC Acoustics required structural assessment and design verification of a main engine silencer and water injector (WI) for the Pacific Patrol Boat (PPB) project (Austal Ships). Avesta Consulting provided an assessment to verify structural integrity of the silencer and water injector and fatigue life under normal operating conditions.
What we did:
- Structural FEA of silencer and WI components considering operating loads and elevated temperatures.
- Fatigue assessment of silencer and WI components applying standard AS 1210 to determine fatigue life under normal operating conditions.
- Confirmed overall structural integrity and achievement of design life requirements.
Outcome:
Avesta Consulting successfully verified structural integrity and design life conformance of the main engine silencer and water injector designs under normal operating conditions.
