Nebo Project Engineers (South32 Illawarra Coal – New South Wales, Australia)
Nebo Project Engineers required structural assessment and design verification of a water dropout tank for the Appin GDP Stage 3 Upgrade (South32 Illawarra Coal). In order to register the tank design with SafeWork NSW (Registration of Plant Design), Avesta Consulting verified the design of the water dropout tank shell, hatches, nozzles and supports in accordance with standard AS 1210.
What we did:
- Performed nonlinear structural FEA of water dropout tank in accordance with standard AS 1210 considering strain-based strength design criteria.
- Performed linear bucking FEA to confirm adequate minimum buckling safety factor.
Outcome:
Avesta Consulting verified structural integrity of the water dropout tank design in accordance with standard AS 1210 and provided review and signoff of SafeWork NSW Registration of Plant Design – Application form as Design Verifier.
