BlueScope Steel (Port Kembla, New South Wales, Australia)
BlueScope Steel required structural assessment and design verification of a gas processing ammonia still pressure vessel. Structural assessment was required to be performed in accordance with standard AS 1210 to verify design compliance applying permanent, imposed (design pressure/temperature), wind, seismic loads and design parameters/conditions provided by BlueScope Steel.
What we did:
- Performed structural assessment of ammonia still pressure vessel considering permanent, imposed (design pressure/temperature), wind and seismic loads as per standards AS 1210.
- Performed linear buckling, natural frequency and spectral response analysis of ammonia still pressure vessel to determine buckling capacity, vibrational frequencies and seismic load induced dynamic structural response.
- Determined peak component deflections/stresses, welded joint capacities and verified design compliance with AS 1210 standard requirements.
Outcome:
Avesta Consulting verified compliance of ammonia still pressure vessel design with the minimum requirements of standard AS 1210 considering in-service loading conditions.
